Reiki and Animal Communication
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, an energy which is all around us.
Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing which evolved in Japan from the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926) Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student.
There is no belief system attached to Reiki so anyone can receive or learn to give a Reiki treatment, the only prerequisite is the desire to be healed.
Which conditions can Reiki help?
It is possible to heal at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Acute injuries can be helped to heal very quickly but more chronic illnesses and injuries takes longer.
Reiki healing can be given anywhere at any time as no special equipment is needed and it can be done from a distance or as a conventional treatment. The practitioner is a channel which the energy is drawn through by the need or imbalance in the recipient.
Reiki supports all forms of treatment both orthodox and complementary. It has no adverse side effects and works well with all other medication. If you are seeking a Reiki treatment for an animal then it is important that you get permission from your vet first-most are happy to say yes!
How does a Reiki treatment affect the patient?
Most patients say that during the treatment they feel relaxed and many fall asleep (animals and humans alike!) Some people feel a tingling, pulsing or warmth in the area that is being treated but it is equally possible to feel nothing.
Animals will show their appreciation by relaxing, standing stock still, moving the area they want treated towards me and occasionally lying down to go to sleep mid treatment. Afterwards it is normal for the relaxed feeling to continue and a good night's sleep is often had. It is very important to drink plenty of water after a treatment and occasionally there will be some stiffness the day after which clears within 24hrs.
Reiki goes to the area that it is needed in most, therefore there are varying results. It can vary from the symptoms disappearing completely to just making someone feel more relaxed and calm. Additionally one treatment may be enough or a course of them may be necessary. Normally you will notice a difference from the first treatment and a significant difference after three.
What is Animal Communication?
Animal communication is a way of 'talking' to an animal using what some would call telepathy. It is the same communication that means that animals know when their owners are on the way home even if it is at a different time to normal. All that is changed is that it is a deliberate rather than a subconscious communication with the animal.
Animals are often surprised to come across a human who actually listens to their thoughts and memories as they communicate a lot of the time like this and see it as normal. They will often tell me of their pasts (including traumatic memories, which can be then treated with Reiki), their likes and dislikes and often their needs and wishes.
I can also communicate the owners questions, thoughts and wishes which can help with the animal's behaviour and emotions.
One of the most privileged parts of animal communication is the love that is sent by animals. They are very understanding and forgiving and love their humans. Even the most damaged animal knows and appreciates a good and loving owner and you don't have to be perfect to be appreciated thank goodness!
What sort of problems have I dealt with?
I have worked with a wide range of human and animal problems. Some of the physical issues I have helped with are back issues, thyroid problems, lameness and headaches/migraines. Reiki is particularly effective with emotional issues and whether it is fear, anger, grief or sadness it helps the person or animal to let go of negative memories and emotions and move on to happier and more enjoyable times.
Several horses and dogs that I have worked with have been able to let go of negative and aggressive behaviour but this must of course be accompanied by sympathetic and gentle handling to allow them to feel safe enough to move on. I have a lot of experience in dealing with abused and traumatised animals and can also give practical and knowledgeable guidance on how to manage and retrain them.
